What sets the Bioli Clarifying Cleanser and Exfoliator apart is its unique combination of characteristics: a mild formulation that delivers highly effective results, produced and packaged to be more sustainable.
The formula is based on BioRefine dual enzyme technology, combining protease and lipase enzymes to cleanse and exfoliate effectively and – unlike traditional AHA and BHA acids that can be harsh on the skin – does so in a gentler way without disrupting the skin’s delicate balance. It removes excess sebum and dead skin cells to reveal smoother, clearer-looking skin, while its 2-in-1 function combines cleansing and exfoliation in one product, reducing the need for multiple products and making skincare simpler.
It also contains multi-weight, multi-molecular hyaluronic acid, going beyond conventional single-weight HA to deliver layered hydration across different levels of the skin. The result is longer-lasting moisture and softer, refreshed skin.
Rare in skincare, all ingredients are chosen for both effectiveness and low environmental impact with every ingredient being 100% biodegradable. The same applies to the packaging: It’s completely plastic-free and 100% biodegradable. Instead of plastic packaging, which may be recyclable but is rarely recycled, or glass, which is heavy to transport – both increasing emissions – the cleanser comes in a bottle made from fermented microorganisms that biodegrades without leaving a trace. Outer packaging has also been simplified to a lightweight FSC®-certified paper bag.
It’s also fragrance-free, allergy-certified, dermatologically approved – standards we believe should not be exceptional, but expected.

- A-Kolbe rating (Denmark): All Bioli products hold the top “A-kolbe” rating from Denmark’s Consumer Council Tænk, meaning they contain none or only minimal amounts of substances of concern based on strict chemical safety criteria.
- Dermatologically tested for sensitive skin: All Bioli products are approved by an accredited laboratory and tested in independent patch studies on volunteers with sensitive or allergy-prone skin. For manufacturing, we work with a trusted Danish factory known for its reliability and commitment to sustainability. The factory uses recycled water and has upgraded to energy-efficient lighting, minimizing environmental impact while maintaining premium product quality.
Is it suitable for sensitive skin?
Yes. All Bioli products are formulated with sensitive skin as the default, using only gentle yet effective, non-irritating ingredients and are free from fragrances. They are suitable for all skin types, including normal, dry, oily, combination, and sensitive skin.
All products are AllergyCertified and dermatologically tested on sensitive skin. In a study conducted under dermatological supervision with 25 volunteers who had a history of allergies or sensitive skin, none reported irritation or allergic reactions, confirming the products’ compatibility. What is BioRefine?

With brief use, BioRefine acts as a cleanser, and when left on the skin for longer, it provides a mild exfoliating effect.
Unlike traditional exfoliants such as AHAs and BHAs, which rely on chemical resurfacing that can increase sensitivity, BioRefine works selectively on the skin’s surface for a more controlled and gentle effect. Compared to plant-based alternatives, BioRefine, being biotech-derived, offers greater consistency and efficacy while requiring less water, energy, and land to produce.
How do I dispose the empty bottle?
You can put the container in your home compost, where it will biodegrade naturally.
If you don’t have a home compost, place it in your general waste. In Denmark, general waste typically goes to incineration, which is fine because the jar is made from plant-based carbon rather than petroleum. This means it releases carbon that is already part of nature’s cycle, making it much less harmful to the environment.
Currently, as compostable packaging, it is not accepted in the bio-waste bin, but if it ends up there by accident, it will still degrade naturally in landfill, unlike conventional plastics that can sit for hundreds of years.
