FAQ – Ingredients, Safety and Certifications
How is Bioli Moisturizing and Protecting Day Cream different from other day creams?
Bioli’s Day Cream is formulated for sensitive skin and the environment by default.
It’s powered by BioProtect enzyme technology, delivering strong antioxidant and anti-inflammatory protection. It’s gentler than vitamin C or E-based creams and supports skin health without irritation, with a luxurious, delightful texture. The ingredients are 100% biodegradable, biotech-derived, and highly sustainable, achieving high effectiveness while using far less water, energy, and CO₂ than conventional plant or petrochemical alternatives.
The cream is also AllergyCertified, dermatologically tested, vegan, and cruelty-free, making it safe and highly beneficial for sensitive skin and skin disorders.
All packaging components are 100% biodegradable. Bioli is completely plastic-free. The cream comes in 100% biodegradable jars made from fermented microorganisms — no glass, no plastic, leaving no trace behind. Outer boxes have been eliminated in favor of a single compostable, FSC®-certified paper bag for storage and shipping.
This cream proves that high-quality performance, design, and sustainability can co-exist.
What certifications and safety testing do Bioli products have?
Bioli skincare products are developed with a strong focus on safety, transparency, and sustainability, and are backed by multiple independent certifications and rigorous testing standards:
- AllergyCertified (Denmark): All Bioli products carry the strict Danish AllergyCertified label. Every ingredient is independently assessed by toxicologists and pharmacists for allergens, carcinogens, endocrine disruptors, and other potentially harmful substances, ensuring the lowest possible allergy risk.
- A-Kolbe rating (Denmark): All Bioli products hold the top “A-kolbe” rating from Denmark’s Consumer Council Tænk, meaning they contain none or only minimal amounts of substances of concern based on strict chemical safety criteria.
- Dermatologically tested for sensitive skin: All Bioli products are approved by an accredited laboratory and tested in independent patch studies on volunteers with sensitive or allergy-prone skin. Results show no irritation or allergic reactions, confirming they are non-irritating and skin-compatible.
- EU regulatory compliance: All Bioli products comply with the European Cosmetics Regulation (EC) No. 1223/2009 and are supported by a third-party Cosmetic Product Safety Report (CPSR).
- Vegan and cruelty-free: All Bioli products are 100% vegan and free from animal-derived ingredients such as beeswax, lanolin, collagen, keratin, and carmine. In line with EU law, neither products nor ingredients are tested on animals.
- Sustainable packaging certifications:
All Bioli products are packaged in FSC®-certified paper from responsibly managed forests.
All Bioli products come in jars and bottles made from OK compost HOME-certified materials, designed to biodegrade under home composting conditions.
Together, these certifications and testing protocols ensure Bioli products are safe, gentle for sensitive skin, environmentally responsible, and compliant with the highest European standards.

Risk assessments cover purity, exposure, and concentration to ensure the lowest possible allergy risk.

What is BioProtect?
BioProtect is a bioactive enzyme technology that serves as the foundation of the Moisturizing and Protecting Day Cream.
It features the enzyme Superoxide Dismutase derived from Saccharomyces cerevisiae, along with activity-enhancing ingredients, to deliver proven, high-level antioxidant protection against environmental stressors, including free radicals, while supporting overall skin health. BioProtect also offers anti-inflammatory benefits to help calm and soothe the skin.
Unlike natural plant-based antioxidants such as green tea or petrochemical-derived vitamins C and E, BioProtect—being biotech-derived—is gentler on sensitive skin, requires significantly less water, energy, and CO₂ to produce, and helps preserve valuable farmland.
How do I dispose the packaging?
You can put the container in your home compost, where it will biodegrade naturally.
If you don’t have a home compost, place it in your general waste. In Denmark, general waste typically goes to incineration, which is fine because the jar is made from plant-based carbon rather than petroleum. This means it releases carbon that is already part of nature’s cycle, making it much less harmful to the environment.
Currently, as compostable packaging, it is not accepted in the bio-waste bin, but if it ends up there by accident, it will still degrade naturally in landfill, unlike conventional plastics that can sit for hundreds of years.
How do I ensure the jar doesn’t start to degrade in my bathroom?
Bioli's packaging is completely stable during use, no matter how long you keep the product.
For the jar to biodegrade, it must be exposed to microbes in a natural, non-sterile environment, like a home compost. These microbes are not present in sufficient quantities in everyday environments such as your bathroom, car, or handbag.
Conditions that often degrade other natural materials — like heat, sunlight, or moisture — do not affect the product’s stability while in use. You can safely leave it by a sunny window or in a steamy bathroom, and it will remain just as you left it.
At the end of use, you can dispose of it in home compost or general waste, where it will biodegrade naturally without producing harmful toxins or microplastics. In a healthy home compost, it will fully degrade within 12 months.
Why does the jar have flaws?
Bioli's jars are made from biodegradable materials derived from fermented microorganisms, rather than conventional plastic or glass. Because of this, slight variations in appearance may occur due to the printing transfer process.
These minor imperfections do not affect the product—they are simply a small trade-off for sustainable, eco-friendly packaging.
